Work Plan 2020 – 2023

INITIATIVE 3:

Promotion of Collaboration as an Effective Strategy to Improve Academic Outcomes

Coordinate regional efforts with local educational, private sector, and community leaders to address local educational needs.

Function 1:

Activity: Alliance for Regional Collaboration to Heighten Educational Success (ARCHES)

In 2005, the ICC and California Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) began ARCHES to fund, support, and nurture the development of regional collaboratives to encourage schools, community colleges, baccalaureate-granting institutions, parental organizations, and the private sector to collaborate and address local or regional educational needs. ARCHES coordinates 13 collaboratives engaged in improving academic and career outcomes for students, developed new assessment strategies, and established a College and Career Success Network. ARCHES will continue to support existing regional collaboratives and develop new partnerships with organizations whose purpose is to strengthen coordination among the educational institutions.

Convene representatives to discuss and reach consensus on the feasibility, structure, and surrounding issues related to a statewide student longitudinal database.

Function 2:

Activity: Statewide Student Longitudinal Database

With the support from the Gates Foundation, ICC convened the state’s educational segments to consider the feasibility and attendant issues involved in developing a statewide student longitudinal database. While significant consensus was reached among members of the ICC on the importance and feasibility of this database, many issues remain unresolved. The Governor’s Cradle-to-Career Workgroup will now address these issues.
